Main Street Bites Back Group Woos Glenn Beck for 2012

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - A grass-roots coalition is wooing Fox News host Glenn Beck to make a run for the Oval Office.

The Connecticut-based group Main Street Bites Back released a video that has been sweeping across the Internet asking supporters to sign a petition calling on the controversial conservator commentator to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012.

The website now features a Support Glenn Beck 2012 page with a running countdown to the 2012 presidential election. The group plans to present the petition – which as of July 14 at had more 6,000 online signatures – to Beck on Jan. 1, 2011 as an "invitation to be a presidential candidate."

The 1-minute, 15-second video features an extreme close-up of heavily made-up, Connecticut-based conservative activist Robin Marie Potwora, who makes an animated case for a Beck presidential run while wearing an orange-brimmed straw hat atop her platinum-blonde head and standing in front of an American flag.

It's unclear whether Beck – who according to Forbes pulled in $23 million last year – would be willing to quit his lucrative media career to make a run for the White House.

But Potwora claims that Beck's lack of presidential aspirations actually makes him an ideal candidate for the job, comparing his reluctance to that of the nation's first president.

"Excuse me? What did you say?" Potwora rhetorically asks."Glenn Beck doesn't want to be president of the United State? Neither did George Washington, and look how that that turned out!"

The site is also raising money by selling dog tags carrying the Main Street Bites Back logo, as well as pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution.

According to The Daily Caller , Potwora has a history of local political activism, including supporting a movement to stop a smoking ban in her home state.
