Who Is Ashley Rodriguez?

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Ashley Rodriguez is not moving into the next roundup after being cut from the Idol competition Thursday night.

Having just graduated from Berklee College with a degree in music business/management in December, 22-year-old Ashley Rodriguez says it is the perfect time for her to be a semi-finalist with an open slot in her schedule.

The Chelsea, Mass., native – who TV.com dubbed an early "Idol" front-runner – told " American Idol " interviewers that she believes she has what it takes to fight to win the title.

And luckily, judge Simon Cowell agreed, telling her she has "it," after she auditioned with Alicia Keys' chart-topper "If I Ain't Got You," in Boston.

Gawker chimed in with similar sentiments: "She can sing like a pack of songbirds in the rafters of the Mormon Tabernacle."

Like all the contestants, she has things she misses while away from home, including her dog Hunter and her bed.

The Boston Celtics basketball fan, who describes herself as "goofy" by nature, says she "loves to sing" and it shows while she is on stage. Rodriguez thinks she'll be the next American Idol: "I'm gonna make it... I want it."

When she was 16-years-old and attending Berklee College's City Music Program, the chanteuse told the Boston Herald at the time: "I've been singing ever since I was little. I grew up doing it in church and school. It just seems natural."

According to the Boston Herald , one of her mentors, Curtis Warner, a City Music Program director, said he "knew she had raw talent" when he first met her.

"It shows what's possible," Warner said. "You could see the packaging when she was 16."

With quite a Twitter following already, Rodriguez is leading the 12 women contestants in the social media race with over 1,000 followers since her first Tweet on Thursday.

And as of Thursday the "Idol" hopeful also has over 800 fans on her Facebook page.
