Drug Court Expands in Southern West Virginia

Four Counties Added to Program

PRINCETON -

The State Supreme court has approved drug courts for Summers, Monroe, Wyoming and McDowell Counties.

Drug courts offer treatment and supervision to people convicted of drug crimes.

Mercer County has operated its drug court for more than a year.  It will serve as the hub for the drug court program. Participants in the other four counties will receive treatment in their home counties but they'll be transported to Mercer County for hearings.

Mercer County's three judges and two magistrates will oversee the cases.
