(MYFOX NATIONAL) - A woman was stranded in a very precarious position when her car stalled on an opening drawbridge in Wisconsin last week.
The car stalled on the bridge at Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., and was still stationary as the giant structure swung open to allow a ship through, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel .
As worried onlookers watched, the car's emergency brake helped the car defy gravity and remain stationary as the giant bridge opened ( see picture ).
"This car was rising, similar to a ride at Great America," said Sturgeon Bay Police Capt. Arleigh Porter.
After the bridge swung shut, the lucky driver managed to restart her car and continued on her way, uninjured.
Even though the incident occurred on Thursday evening, police only learned about it after pictures of the car precariously perched on the bridge began circulating on the Internet. "At first we thought someone was just playing around with Photoshop," Porter said. "It really is amazing."
Police are still looking for the woman. "She's not in any trouble," Porter said. "We just want to talk to her and find out how this happened so we can make sure that it doesn't happen again."
The first drawbridges can be traced back to medieval castles. The world's longest drawbridge , the Charles Berry Bridge spanning 333 feet, opened in 1940 and crosses the Black River in Lorain, Ohio.
